It’s very snowy in Chamonix with one of the best starts to the main season in years.
It has been dumping down with 86cm (almost three feet) of fresh snow in the past 72 hours and much more forecast going through to the weekend.

Most of the sectors in the Chamonix Valley are now open and almost half of the region’s 86 trails are operational.
Freeriders should beware however that the avalanche danger is high off piste.
Base depths are 40-120cm with temperatures as low as -10C
