After a week of extreme weather which saw Chamonix’s slopes closed and even people in certain areas of the Chamonix Valley advised to stay indoors with windows closed up to the avalanche danger thing are returning to normal.

At the time of writing there was still no upper-slope snow depth published as teams were more focused on getting roads and slopes re-opened, but basically, it’s very, very deep.
The snowfall has now stopped and with blue skies, low temperatures, the avalanche danger level dropped from 5 of 5 to 2 of 5 and vast amounts of fresh sow, conditions are rarely any better than they are right now in the Chamonix Valley.
