The British Snowboard and Freeski Championships, better known as ‘The BRITS’, returns to Laax in Switzerland next April, and on the competition list, after a four year break, are a Big Air Championships in celebration of the event’s newly acquired Olympic status.
Indeed the event will be staged less than a year before Big Air debuts at the Winter Olympics in South Korea in 2018.
The 2017 BRITS will take place from 2nd – 9th April 2017 and will include the British Championships in Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Snowboardcross/Skiercross, and the returning Big Air Championships thanks to new sponsor Picture Organic Clothing.
British Olympian, and the first man to land a quad cork, Billy Morgan (pictured top) had this to say of the news:
“It’s great to have the Big Air back at The BRITS. It always had the best vibe, and was the event that threw me into the spotlight back in 2010, so yeah, I’d love to come back and reclaim the crown.”
Along with Picture Organic Clothing, also newly on-board this year is Delancey, a specialist real estate investment company, who are also principal sponsors of British Ski and Snowboard. Delancey will offer a bonus prize pot of £3000, rewarding the best overall male and female for both Ski and Snowboard across all disciplines.

The Championships also welcomes budding amateurs and first-timers. For years it has been pushing the UK’s professional athletes, whilst retaining an open-door policy for anyone wishing to give-it-a-go, and more recently for a growing number that just want more than a traditional winter holiday.
