Delancey British Senior Alpine Team racer Charlotte Guest has kicked off the start of the 2014/15 season with a win in the very first race of the Alpine calendar.

Charlie, who has been training with team mates Alex Tilley and Darcie Mead in New Zealand for the last couple of weeks, won the Slalom race held in Cardrona, NZ yesterday. In tough conditions, Charlie fought to win by a clear margin of 4.26 seconds, ahead of Austrian Denise Widner, and fellow Delancey team athlete Rachelle Rogers – who achieved 3rd place in her first race of 2014/15.

“It’s a great feeling to have the first race in the bag. My skiing today was not exactly ideal in the first run. I made a couple of mistakes and didn’t really find much of a rhythm in the course,” said Charlie, adding,

“Summer prep has been going really well with the Scottish Institute, and I’ve made some real improvements with my cardio work whilst learning a lot about myself on the strength side of things. I’m really looking forward to the rest of our camp down here in New Zealand and of course final preparations back home before the Northern Hemisphere season.”
