Arc 1950 is carrying its summer momentum into August with 4 weeks of free village events, from falconry and sheepdog demonstrations to mountain bike shows, star-gazing and fireworks.
After a successful July of cycling activity with partner Decathlon CMA CGM, the French Alpine village is moving into high summer with a packed programme designed to bring its pedestrianised centre to life for families, riders, walkers and summer holidaymakers.
The month begins on 4 August with Nature & Terroir Day, a celebration of Alpine crafts, local produce and mountain traditions. The programme includes sheepdog demonstrations, a falconry display, children’s activities, village games and evening entertainment in the square.
On 11 August, Arc 1950 changes mood with Armutan “Far West”, as the village is transformed into a Wild West setting with games, shows, entertainment and a family-friendly western atmosphere.
A quieter, more celestial evening follows on 12 August with Night of the Stars, guided by passionate astrophysicist Julien Lambert. Using a high-definition telescope connected to a giant screen, visitors will be able to explore planets, nebulae and constellations from the mountain village setting.
The traditional 15 August celebrations will bring the village together for a DJ set followed by a fireworks display above Arc 1950, adding a classic midsummer mountain party feel to the programme.
Mountain biking takes centre stage on 18 August with the X Sports Show, when professional riders will perform jumps and tricks in the village. There will also be beginner balance bike and MTB sessions, giving younger or less experienced riders a chance to get involved.
The bike theme continues on 24 August with Woody Bike, organised by Wood Bear Café, where visitors can test their mountain bike skills before the day rolls into a DJ set and evening party atmosphere.
The final Tuesday of the summer season, 25 August, returns to the Nature & Terroir theme, with craft making, local products and a festive finish to the village’s summer programme.
