A new holiday company which describes itself as, “…a high-end French chalet and self-catering operator with a hotel approach to the self-catering holiday experience,” is aiming to raise standards at all levels in the ski travel business.
Barcelona-based Emerald Stay’s founders Maxime Friess and Laurent Lacourt believe they have spotted an opportunity in the rental market as they have both been confronted first-hand to the inefficiencies of renting out second homes.
They started exploring why the equivalent of a modern, branded hotel chain did not exist for private homes and then set out to do just that with Emerald Stay.
The company has grown fast since its founding just before the pandemic and now offers a wide range of luxury chalets and apartments with a portfolio of over 200 properties, across 3 countries. In France alone, Emerald is offering accommodation in 21 French resorts.
Earlier this year, Emerald Stay “welcomed Ski Verbier Exclusive into their family” and will now be offering stunning luxury catered chalets in the ever popular resort of Verbier in Switzerland.

In 2022 Emerald Stay became the first hotel company in Europe to be B-Corp certified, underlining its pioneering approach to environmental and social responsibility. It has also been recognized as a “Great Place to Work” and “HappyAtWork” (ChooseMyCompany) accredited company.
