007 Elements – Bond is Back in Sölden

Fancy braving the 007 elements this year? If you’re a fan of the charismatic super spy and after a ski trip with a twist, get yourself down to Sölden this winter season for an experience like no other.

After a starring role in the 2015 movie ‘Spectre’, the popular Austrian town of Sölden is receiving the Bond treatment once again this winter with an all new ‘cinematic installation’, 007 Elements.

What is 007 Elements?

007 is an interactive experience which takes the visitor through a number of galleries, each reflecting different elements present in the creation of a Bond film. An interactive journey, it is designed to be both educational and interesting, in a truly unforgettable environment.

This project is in very good hands; the Creative Director of 007 Elements, Neal Callow, was the Art Director on all four of Daniel Craig’s Bond movies. With 007 Elements, he has strived to a real-life glimpse into Bond’s world for those who have previously only seen such things on the big screen. The reasoning is that this environment heightens the visitors’ experience, allowing them an entirely new perspective on the ever-growing franchise.

And what a perspective it will be! Images released on Sölden’s Facebook page this week show the home of 007 Elements as a stark grey building that could be straight out of a Bond film itself. The building itself covers 1300 square metres and is perched a dizzying 3050 metres above sea level within the summit of the Gaislachkogl Mountain, offering incredible views of the valleys below.

In fact, 007 Elements occupies the same mountain-top as the futuristic clinic in ‘Spectre’, itself actually Sölden’s famous ice Q restaurant. Elements is even designed by the same minds behind ice Q, Obermoser Architects. No strangers to Sölden, Obermoser Architects are also behind both the Gaislachkogelbahn and the Giggijochbahn (say that three times fast, I dare you) cable car stations in the area.

So what better way to put yourself in the shoes of 007 than looking out over the same views he did in Spectre? Just make sure to avoid the whole chasing a car down a mountain in a plane part. Please.
