This Val Thorens Snow Report and Forecast 8th January 2018 comes after a mixed week in the popular French resort.
Last week brought varied conditions, from blue skies at the start of the week through to some of the worst storms they have seen in years in Val Thorens. While a few lifts did open for a few hours in the morning, the entire resort was shut on Wednesday afternoon. Very little was open on Thursday as well, with little visibility and rainy conditions. From Tuesday night until Thursday evening, up to 2.5 metres of snow is said to have fallen.
Friday and Saturday saw more sunshine but this was not to last for long and the snow returned on Sunday. The avalanche risk remains very high, reaching 5/5 on Wednesday and Thursday. It is now still at 4, which means you should still exercise extreme caution and safety on the slopes.
The forecast for the next week makes for good reading for anyone headed out to Val Thorens. Around 25cm more snowfall today (Monday 8th January) will be followed by a combination of light snowfall, clouds and sunshine through to Saturday. Perfect conditions for enjoying all the amazing snow that has fallen recently.
