St Anton is planning a full weekend of celebrations to launch their 2014-15 ski season from 5th to 7th December The stage is set for winter.
The celebrations kicks off at 8.45am sharp on Friday 5th December when the first gondola will leave its starting blocks to access the area’s 340km of marked runs and 200km of back country terrain. 15 leading ski and snowboard manufacturers will be there providing their latest models to test free of charge all weekend.
Later on in the day the resort will stage its famous “Krampalar” Devil’s Run when the “Krampalar” demons wearing scary masks and “devil skins” join St. Nicholas as he walks through the streets to get rid of evil spirits before the winter. Not to worry, behind their disguise these beings are really rather friendly.
Evening festivities include performances by country band the “BossHoss” a seven man band from Berlin who achieved international success with their striking mix of country and rock only a year after forming in 2005, and from rock veterans Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, both perfoprming at the season launch party on the Saturday evening.
Holders of a 2 day ski pass (84 Euros), or longer, get free entry to the Opening Party, everyone else pays 39 Euros.
There’s also and Advent Magic and Christmas Market where you can try the local ’Kiachla’ sweet and savoury filled doughnuts, and the chance to test drive an Audi Quattro free of charge.
