That’s a wrap for the fifth edition of the not-to-be-missed event in the boarding circle, The Snowboard Garden Festival. Held from 15th to 17th October in Grenoble in france, it took place for the first time at The Palais Des Sports stadium, originally built for the 1968 Olympics. The event was centered on three main areas: the main productions of the season, the exhibitors’ village and a live band every night.

Serious matters started on the first evening with the ThirtyTwo movie, 2032. The brand’s first team movie to celebrate 20 years of snowboarding. The cast of riders is reason enough to watch it.(JP Walker, Jeremy Jones, Scott Stevens, Chris Grenier, Joe Sexton, Chris Bradshaw, Frank April, Dylan Thompson, Toni Kerkela, Benny Urban, Kas Lemmens… )
Each day had its dose of great production. Déjà Vu – Encore and Videograss – Videogracias releases on Friday and things get heavy too on Saturday with The Balance Movie and Absinthe Films premieres.
A couple of trends have been spotted for Winter 2016 : technical and urban wear. As a matter of fact, the freeride / big mountain tendency is back. Many factors combined in this have been driving each brand to produce technical products. Consumers are expecting ever better quality wear, so brands need to adopt new practices to maintain a faithful client base and reach a larger audience.

To celebrate its 20th birthday ThirtyTwo made a movie but also reissued the boot that started it all : The PAS Lo-Cut. with a logo that pays homage to their Etnies skate past revamped for today’s snowboarding with modern technicities. Polyvalent, mid-flex, these boots provide good ankle and heel support due to Internal Lacing System.

Kids were not forgotten either. More technical and hitting increasingly hard the park they needed a proper board ! Salomon Snowboards provide to them a board using the same technology as their elders’, the only difference is the Bob The Sponge design. They’re still kids afterall !
According to the organisation 17 000 snowsports enthusiasts met during these three days. Great names, great atmosphere, you could feel everyone’s excitement as winter season’s kick off approaches ! Good to know snow is already dumping !
