The snow has been falling in France again over the past few days.

First off there was 20-30cm in the French Pyrenees on Wednesday and over the past 48 hours there have been similar falls reported at many French ski areas, the biggest at Chamonix, Bonneval, Serre Chevalier and Val Cenis.

These are reporting powder conditions up top and fresh conditions on the groomed runs.  However much of the country, particularly further north in the Northern Alps, has seen less snow and reporting spring like conditions with the snow described as ‘soft’ and at worst ‘wet’ on lower slopes.

But base depths are still good at most resorts, with 50-100cm on lower runs, 1-3m higher up, with a few exception (Chamrousse 25-55cm, Les Gets 15-95cm).

More snow is expected across much of France this weekend.
