Scottish Ski Areas to Open in to May after Best Season For Four Years

At least two of the five Scottish ski areas will stay open in to May, conditions permitting, after one of the best ski seasons in years.

Last week trade body Ski-Scotland revealed that skier visit numbers for the season had passed the 200,000 mark, beating the totals in each of the past three seasons.  He number will increase further through the remaining weeks of the season.

Nevis Range and Glencoe both say they’ll open in to May, Cairngorm has not yet announced when their season will end.

Nevis Range say they’ll open on selected dates over the next three weeks and that their last day of the season will be Monday 7th of May, conditions permitting.

On the Eastern side of the Highlands the Lecht says their last day of the season was yesterday, Saturday 14th April whilst Glenshee say that after closing from Tuesday to Thursday next week their final day will be Sunday 22nd next weekend.

After a long cold winter The Highlands were amongst the warmest places in Britain over the weekend with temperatures reaching 16C in some locations.
