With the best start to the winter season in years for most resorts, it’s a better time than ever to make planning your ski days even easier. No need to spend valuable slope time poring over piste maps; plan your whole day over breakfast this year with the new version of the Crystal Ski Explorer App (4.0). Full of practical tips and real-time (yes, real-time!) information, it will be a great addition to your ski gear this winter.

Today, Crystal Ski Holidays released the newest version (4.0) of their Ski Explorer App, introducing a number of features suggested by users last winter to enhance the app, which covers over 125 ski resorts around the world. Designed as an overarching tool to help skiers and their friends to get the most out of their holiday, the Ski Explorer App is open to everyone, not just Crystal Ski Holidays guests.

So What’s new with the 4.0 app?

  • Real-time lift and slope information allows you to plan your ski day before even getting out of bed.
  • A Route planner to get from A to B – handy if you’ve planned to meet your friends for lunch or to find the fastest way back to your hotel at the end of the ski day.
  • Mountain and resort points of interest – useful to find places to eat, viewpoints or après spots
  • Unique for Ski Explorer app: see your ski track on the piste map – relive who skied fastest, highest or furthest with your track for the day all mapped out on the piste map

The Crystal Ski Explorer App 3.0 was released in December 2015 and has proved immensely popular with skiers. Nearly 100,000 people downloaded it last year and were connected with over 500 Crystal ski reps on the mountains. From essential on-the-slope features, know-how from Crystal Ski Holidays’ expert team on the ground, and resort and mountain maps pinpointing the sweet spots to the best routes round the mountain and the best ways to get there, all the original app’s features have been retained in the 4.0 update.

Crystal Managing Director Chris Logan said: “App users can plan their ski days in advance, even before their travel. They can receive notifications from the resort team, access snow and weather forecasts, and once they’re on the mountain, they can get live lift info, ski tracking that maps out their travels, friend-finder technology so they can meet up with their pals on the slopes, and our handy route planner to get them from A to B.”

You can also use this app to contribute to Disability Snowsports UK’s #Ski2Paralympics Campaign by tracking your miles and uploading them to DSUK’s Facebook Page.

To download the app, search for Crystal Ski Explorer on the App Store or Google Play or follow this link – http://crys.tl/2hecXbQ. The Android version will go live next week. The app is free of charge and can be used by all skiers, not just Crystal Ski Holidays customers.
