The tour operator Ski Weekends which specialises in short breaks ski trips has announced a massive jump in the number of ski resort destinations it operates to, going from just under 30 last season to more than 60 for 16-17.

At the same time the company which once offered cheap-and-cheerful overnight coach travel at the core of its business is dropping the coach option altogether as it believes the market has moved on with customers wanting to use the ever growing flight network and splash out on a higher quality experience. Ski Weekends offer breaks from 17 UK airports and has also upped its selection of properties to include 17 five-star properties.

New destinations include short breaks for the first time to Norway and Sweden, the French Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada in southern Spain (pictured above).

“Our skiers can now choose and book from what is irrefutably the largest range of short breaks available from the UK”  said Dan Fox, Managing Director, Ski Weekends who also revealed that weekend breaks actually are now only taken up by 51% of the company’s guests, 42% opting for mid-week breaks and 7% a full week, but typically starting their holiday on a week day.

“The focus of Ski Weekends is to enable holidays of three or four nights to locations within easy reach of an airport, whilst offering flights from regional airports across the UK so that the journey is quick and easy. This ensures that Ski Weekend’s customers can spend the maximum amount of time on the slopes,” Dan added.  SkiWeekends.com
