If you are as desperate to get back to the mountains as we are, you’re surely wanting to squeeze every last run out of your ski holiday this winter!

Here are our top tips on how to seriously maximise your ski time in 2021/22 and beyond…

The Right Accommodation

Unsurprisingly, ski-in/ski-out is essential when trying to maximise ski time! However, so too is the catering element of your holiday accommodation. Self-catering means you have to spend additional time shopping, cooking, washing up – all of which take up time you could be spending on the slopes.

Choosing a catered chalet or hotel means you don’t have to worry about anything other than enjoying yourself. Instead, all your energy can be directed towards skiing all day and enjoying the après!

The Best Flights

Though you might not always have masses of choice when it comes to your flights, there are a few tips you should certainly try and follow as much as possible.

Early flights out and late flights back mean you get the opportunity to ski on two days more than your conventional package might suggest.

Airport location is also key. Avoid airports a long way from home and instead consider regional airports, many of which now offer a wide range of winter destinations.

Efficient Transfers

There’s nothing worse than arriving at your destination airport on a gorgeous morning, excited at the prospect of some bonus afternoon ski action, only to realise you’re stuck waiting on a coach for hours until more flights arrive to fill out your transfer bus! Then leaving the resort early when you could be skiing up until the last minute of the last day.

Surely hiring a car would be better? You’d think so, but those of us who have experienced the joys of car hire pick-up queues and mountains of unexpected paperwork know that this is not always the case!

Instead, avoid any waiting times by using a shared private transfer or minibus. Consider your resort choice carefully – a slightly longer transfer might mean a ski area right on your doorstep, so more ski time (e.g. ski- in/ski-out Avoriaz as opposed to Morzine).

Finally, however short or long your trip, to really get the most time on the slopes, book with a holiday company that have made this their mission for over 30 years. Skiweekends will take care of everything for you, meaning all you have to do is kick back, relax and plan your next adventure!
