A new style of back pack looks set to hit the slopes of Europe this coming season with the launch of some groovy new gear from MadPax.

Already picked up in the US by the snowboard and elements of the ski community, they’re not intended to be full blown technical snow packs, but more of a fun fashion statement.

That said the material is highly water resistant, the bags are lightweight, those spikes aren’t hard but soft fabric if you accidentally slide in to one and so its no surprise they’re proving popular on the slopes.

Originally created in Phoenix Arizona in 2011 “MadPax was founded on one key principle – to create 3D inspired, progressively modern backpacks,” claims MadPax co-founder, Tina Huber.

MadPax comes in three very stand-out designs, Spiketus Rex™ was the first of these designs followed up by BUBBLE™, a semi-rigid, semi-circles that literally pop out from the body of the backpack. These were followed by BLOK™.  Innovation continues with the team experimenting with ways to construct backpacks that make them stand out.

The bags are constructed from a durable material with zipper entry, laptop sleeve means you can work on the go, and accessory pockets for daily essentials.  Padded shoulder straps with ventilation strips at the back for breathability, reinforced stitching in key stress zones and front chest clips to hold the bag in place whether you are hitting the slopes or ramps.

MadPax sees its UK and European launch in July with prices from £12 – £60
