GB Park and Pipe set for Winter Games New Zealand

The GB Park and Pipe team are in New Zealand in full force as they prepare for World Cup competitions beginning this Saturday that form the Winter Games NZ.

 

This weekend sees the GB Park and Pipe skiers kick off the World Cup action with Ski Slopestyle qualifiers on Saturday and finals on Sunday in Cardrona. The weekend competitions are then followed by Ski Halfpipe qualifiers on Thursday 31st August and finals the following day on the 1st September.

 

In action for GB Park and Pipe in the Ski Slopestyle will be James ‘Woodsy’ Woods who won the equivalent World Cup on the slopes of Cardrona two years ago. He will be joined by Tyler Harding, Chris McCormick, Harris Booth and Mike Rowlands in the men’s competition. There will also be a strong British contingent in the female Ski Slopestyle, with Katie Summerhayes and Madi Rowlands in action over the weekend.

In Ski Halfpipe, Pete Speight will be looking for a strong finish as he tries to hit the qualifying standard for PyeongChang 2018. He is joined by teammates Murray Buchan and Alexander Glavatsky-Yeadon. For the women, Rowan Cheshire and Madi Rowlands are joined by Molly Summerhayes who will be tackling her first NZ World Cup.

 

The World Cup season kicks off for the Park and Pipe snowboarders the following weekend when the Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup comes to Cardrona starting with qualifiers on 3rd September and finals on 4th September. Competing for GB Park and Pipe will be Billy Morgan, Jamie Nicholls, Rowan Coultas and Matt McCormick for the men, and Katie Ormerod and Aimee Fuller will tackle the Slopestyle course for the women.
