Futures Project has been created by GB Park & Pipe with the support of British Ski & Snowboard, Snowsport England, Snowsport Scotland and Snowsport Wales to support and encourage young people in the UK to get involved in snow sports in a fun and progressive way.
The project is made up of two parts – Futures Snow Award and Futures Sessions – and caters for children aged between 6-18 years old.
Futures Snow Award supports entry level and grassroots engagement in snow sports. It introduces a self-driven, skills-based approach to learning both on and off the snow through a series of steps that can be achieved on any mountain, indoor or dry slope.
The next step on the Futures pathway are the Futures Sessions. These sessions are coaching days which act as an entry point into the performance pathway. Aimed at skiers and snowboarders aged 10-18 years who already take part in snowsports, whether as newcomers to freestyle or young people who want to learn some new tricks. Participants can start their own GB Park & Pipe traffic light trick progression programme at these sessions.
This video was filmed at a recent Futures Session that happened at Halifax Ski & Snowboard Centre.
