Leading car rental comparison website Carrentals.co.uk has announced a new loyalty programme based on feedback from its most loyal customers. Drivers asked for high street gift vouchers as a reward as opposed to just discounted car hire.
The announcement comes after a survey of people who regularly hire cars for either business or leisure use. Carrentals.co.uk approached 1,000 of its most loyal customers to ask what form of loyalty reward they would value most. Of the 700 respondents, 68% said that car hire loyalty schemes influenced their decision making when booking car hire. Surprisingly, when the group was asked what form of reward they were most interested in, nearly a quarter (22%) asked for Amazon Gift Vouchers. Nectar Points were viewed as the second most popular retail reward, mentioned by just over 10% of the sample.
Consequently, the new loyalty programme from Carrentals.co.uk will reward customers with free Amazon gift vouchers when they place reservations via the car hire comparator’s website. They will receive 1 point for every £1 spent on prepaid car hire or 20 points when a friend activates their own account.
Customers will be able to redeem their first Amazon gift card when they have earned 1000 points. They are available in multiples of £10 for every 1000 points they accrue & multiple gift codes can be redeemed in a single online transaction via Amazon.co.uk.

Not all rentals will be eligible for points, for example bookings which are made and subsequently cancelled.
