A tour-operator with a long-standing reputation as a North American ski specialist has warned that reduced capacity on direct services between the UK and Calgary airport in Canada could drive up the price of ski holidays to the region. They’re advising skiers wanting to head to the region this winter to book early.
Calgary serves a number of world-famous resorts in Western Canada including Banff Lake Louise and Jasper in Alberta as well as Kicking Horse, Fernie, Panorama and others in BC. The resorts are usually easy to reach (weather permitting) from the airport and holiday prices here are often among the lowest for Western North American destinations from the UK.
However BA have pulled out of the Calgary route for the winter which means that only Air Canada now offer a direct service from the UK, which tour operator Ski Independence have warned will put pressure on space and thus pricing. They are therefore advising skiers wishing to ski at these resorts this winter make early bookings to secure their desired flights at the best price.
Ski Independence have a number of deals for bookings made before 31st August including up to 35% off at the Fairmont Banff Springs (pictured top) and 50% off all lodging, half price lift tickets and shared transfers to Panorama.
“Our strong growth last season would indicate we’re offering our clients the right mix of product backed up by a very high level of service and expertise. Our client feedback would certainly support this with our Feefo rating standing at 4.9 out of 5 and our client survey results indicating 98% of last winter’s clients saying they would book with us again,” said Managing Director Michael Bennett.
The good news is that Air Canada have confirmed they are one of the few airlines to offer free ski and boot carriage on all transatlantic routes in addition to the regular 23kg luggage allowance.
