Après-ski is difficult to recreate once you’re back home, but ECOFUEGO has come up with a practical way to bring some of that winter-terrace atmosphere into the garden. The company describes its new outdoor firepit as the world’s first wax firepit, using replaceable wax candles to create a real flame for patios, terraces and outdoor spaces without the need for logs or gas.
Designed for outdoor living, the ECOFUEGO system uses replaceable 100% vegetable-wax refill candles rather than wood or gas, creating a real flame for gardens, patios, terraces and compact entertaining spaces. The company says each refill can burn for up to 8 hours, with the firepit lit using a standard lighter and extinguished with the supplied lid. It is designed as a decorative and warming outdoor flame, rather than a cooking fire.
For anyone missing the feel of a ski lodge terrace between mountain trips, the appeal is easy to understand. There are no logs to store, no ash to clear away and no wood smoke drifting across the table. Instead, ECOFUEGO promises a cleaner, simpler firepit experience for winter evenings, après-ski-style gatherings and relaxed cold-weather entertaining at home.

The range includes the El Fuego Original 37cm, aimed at gardens and terraces, and the smaller El Campo 27cm, a more portable option for camping, cabins, picnics and smaller outdoor spaces. ECOFUEGO says the El Campo includes a firepit, tabletop lid, carry bag, drum and one 8-hour refill, while the brand’s wider collection also includes natural and citronella wax refills.
The brand says its wax is 100% biodegradable vegetable wax sourced from audited suppliers, and also claims the system can produce up to 90% lower CO₂ emissions than a traditional wood fire. As with all sustainability claims, readers should treat that figure as manufacturer-stated unless independently verified.
Current prices listed by ECOFUEGO include the El Fuego Original from £199.99, El Campo Matte Black from £119.99 and 4.5kg natural wax refills at £26.99, although some refill options were showing as sold out on the brand’s site at the time checked. Products are sold direct, with the company also offering a store locator for retail stockists.
It is a neat idea for skiers who like to carry the mountain mood into everyday life. ECOFUEGO will not replace the real thing, of course, with snow underfoot, a piste map in the pocket and the last run still glowing in the legs. But for a winter evening in the garden, a chalet-inspired gathering or a little fireside theatre after dark, it brings the terrace a good deal closer.
