A mixed picture in North America over the past week although things are now looking more wintry everywhere.

There were big snowfalls in the West and most recently significant snowfalls in the East too, as per this video from Jay Peak in Vermont yesterday (November 27th, 2017)

However there was also high humidity in the Northwest so some precipitation fell as rain.  One ski area in Utah, Snowbird, opened then decided to close again a few days later as it couldn’t sustain its snow cover.

But it is is getting colder again now, this is Cypress Mountain on the BC Coast.

More and more Canadian and US resorts have been opening so more than 100 are open now.  The many ski areas in the Midwest have been particularly welcoming the good conditions there.

Big name resorts that opened at the weekend included Quebec’s Mont Tremblant.
