Inevitably a number of British ski holiday companies have decided to throw their towels in with the latest Transatlantic retail craze to gain ground in Blighty – Black Friday, or all the variants there on, which in the ski business obviously include ‘White Friday!’
We’ll not be boring enough to point out that ‘Black Friday’ is the Americans’ Boxing Day Sale equivalent following their Thanksgiving public holiday on the last Thursday of November and therefore completely irrelevant to we Brits. Who cares? we love a bargain!
And one tour operator, Mountain Heaven, did think of a neat connection that’s surely justification enough, if any were needed,
“As a special ‘Thanksgiving’ for the early arrival of copious quantities of snow, Mountain Heaven are renaming Black Friday to White Friday and offering excellent additional discounts on all ski holidays throughout the season,” says company director Nick Williams.
In fact it’s likely most ski holiday company websites you stumble upon today will offer some deal, but some of those we’ve been told about include:
The UK’s largest ski tour operator Crystal is offering an extra £100 per booking on European ski holidays departing in December 2015 using voucher code BLACK when you book.
They’re also offering some huge savings including up to £565 per person off a week’s half board over Christmas at the three-star Hotel Terra Nova in La Plagne, France. The price is now from £399 per person (based on two sharing) including flights from Birmingham and transfers departing on 19 December.
Mountain Heaven say their deals will be posted on the self-catered and catered offers pages first thing on Friday and will only be available to book over the phone (0151 625 1921) until 8pm this evening. The offers pages can also be found at the bottom of the home page.
“We are offering 50% off original list price so that’s going to mean very cheap holidays,” says company director Nick Williams.
Powder Beds have also opted for ‘White Friday’ in celebration of all the new snow and say they’re offering savings of up to 40% and additional savings on top of existing deals in some cases. The deals are accessible via the company’s blog page.
“The fantastic early snow in our most popular resorts in France mean skiers can book with confidence for Christmas, New Year and beyond. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic season and with low temperatures and more snow forecast for the weekend, we couldn’t be happier,” said Michael Bennet, Managing Director of PowderBeds.
