Austrian ski areas saw their third successive weekend of snowfall at the start of this week.
The biggest falls of up to 60cm were seen on the country’s glaciers with the Dachstein and Kitzsteinhorn posting the biggest accumulations. Ischgl, which is due to open for next weekend, received 15cm.
About 20 Austrian ski areas were open at the weekend, most with excellent conditions for mid-November thanks to the snowfall over the past three weeks.
Obergurgl, which opened last week, has the most terrain open with 99km of runs skiable – probably the most in the Alps at present.
Base depths are already I the 1.5-2.7m on the country’s glaciers and 30-80cm at already-open non-glacier resorts like Kitzbuhel and Schladming.
