St Anton’s famous end-of-season mass-start ‘ski race with a difference’ The White Thrill is back next weekend on 16th April with 555 international participants signed up to compete.

The race starts at the end of the ski day in the late afternoon, after the lifts close.  All the racers line up along the Vallugrat Ridge the hurtle down to the valley on unprepared slopes.

A few extra challenges are thrown in for good measure along the way including a mid-race 150 metre long ascent, where many crucial seconds are either won or lost.

The fastest cross the finishing line in just under eight minutes, but times between 11 and 18 minutes are a very respectable average. Towards the end of the race, time only plays a minor role anyway.
