In France the 2017-18 season gets underway at Tignes (pictured above and below) today (September 30th).
There’s been nowhere open for snowsports in France since Les 2 Alpes ended their summer skiing season at the start of September – the only one of the big four Alpine nations with nowhere open to ski.

Fresh snow fell across the French Alps during September though, including at Avoriaz:
Tignes will be the only ski area open in France for most of the next 7 weeks, before Val Thorerns begins the mass opening of French centres from, the latter half of November.
That’s unless we get a snowy starts to November as last year which led to resorts like Alpe d’Huez opening early.
Otherwise the only other centre will be Les 2 Alpes again opening from 21st October to 1st November for its annual end-of-October ski feast and new season gear testing week.
