The Zugspitz ski area, Germany’s highest, is currently building a new cable car to open in 2017.

The existing Eibsee-Seilbahn lift, which opened in 1963, will be replaced by the new Zugspitze cable car which features three new world firsts. It will have the world’s highest cable car support tower, measuring 127 metres; the greatest altitude difference of 1,945 metres over one section; and the world’s longest free span, covering 3,213 metres.
