A New Sensation

02 Apr 15

At 2300 metres Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe, offering access to The 3 Vallées with over 600km of piste and 335 slopes.

The Alps continue to be the most desirable destination for skiing with the Brits and Club Med are making it that much easier with their all inclusive packages.  According to recent reports the demand for ‘All Inclusive’ ski holiday packages are increasing year on year. Compared to most of the other companies out there offering this experience, Club Med certainly ensure that their packages are without doubt ‘All In’.

In the heart of the village, the new hotel is certainly something to marvel at compared to the apartment blocks surrounding the rest of the village.  Their ‘4 Trident’ resort offers you a worry free stay with even your lift passes and ESF ski lessons are included in the price of your holiday.

This hotel is certainly one that has tried to steer clear of the ‘Alpine Chic’ which has become dated and over done by many mountain resorts.

A New Sensation

The newly built Sensations Club Med Resort not only offers exceptional ski in ski out access to the slopes but also boasts a range of other positive features.  An impressive indoor climbing wall features in the hotel lobby, as well as an on site gym complete with fitness classes and hammam.  While the gym is a little on the small side for the 384 rooms the hotel spa has 10 treatment rooms including a double treatment room for those couples looking to spend quality time together.  The spa offers a spot of relaxation after those long days on the slopes and the 2 restaurants to choose from offer produce sourced from local suppliers.  Although one of these restaurants is a buffet style dining experience, there is an alternative option if this isn’t your scene.

If you don’t fancy lugging all you gear to the airport and back or your worried you might be given some retro 1990’s skis from the hire shop, the hotel ski-room is stocked with the latest equipment from Rossignol.  As well as this, during certain weeks in April you can even be the first to try out their 2016 gear.  As well as top of the line ski gear on offer, Club Med Val Thorens are also offering a new choice of snow based activities.  Speed riding, boarder cross, snow scooters, and winter mountain biking will all be on offer at this new resort.

Although the hotel welcomes families, this particular resort does not offer any child care facilities.  This may be a massive draw for those people hoping to spend some quality time with the family on the mountain.  Club Med therefore offers a great option for those families following the new trend of holidaying with the whole family, grand parents included.  Families are becoming ever increasingly interested in spending time as a family and teaching their children new skills.

The launch of this new resort comes hand in hand with the latest report from Club Med concerning ski trends.  The report looks into the idea of the traditional family skiing holiday and how this is now evolving.

With support from Olympic skier and Club Med Ambassador Graham Bell, the “thought of going on an extended family holiday” seems to be an increasing trend.  He supports the results of this report stating that he has “often skied with both generations.  With the older generation staying fitter for longer, there’s no reason you can’t bring your parents on you next ski trip, as well as the children.”

Club Med reports that results from this particular study show that more families than ever are looking at going on holiday with not just their family but with their extended family also.  The report shows that ‘Gramping’ otherwise know as holidaying with grandparents, has risen to a fifth of holiday makers having skied in the last two years with extended family.  This is attributed to the shift in the generation ski and ‘The Rise of the Silver Skier’.
