One evolving situation for skiers this winter is the question of which flight routes will be available?

With aviation having been cut back to key routes during the pandemic its only now, much later than usual, that some ski routes are being announced.  These include the return of popular routes from the UK’s main cities to the main ski hub airports in Europe, but also some new routes that didn’t exist, or were run by a different carrier, pre-pandemic.

Jet2.com seem to be leading the return of ski routes, or at least is doing the best job of publicising what they’re offering. They recently announced a new Edinburgh – Innsbruck route and have now announced a return to Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport, the closest to many of the major resorts in the French Alps including Paradiski, Les Trois Vallées, Tignes, Val d’Isère, Les Arcs, La Rosière and many more.

Jet2 will run scheduled flights from five airports in the UK: Manchester, London, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Of these five destinations, Bristol and Leeds are new. There will be six flights a week from December 2021 to mid-April 2022.

“We are very pleased to be working with Jet2 again. After the Covid crisis, it is a very positive sign for local tourism. We are looking forward to welcoming British passengers this winter in our airport,” says Mylène Leuly, Director of Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport.

Visitors from the UK can also fly to the heart of the French Alps with British Airways. BA CityFlyer will be offering regular flights from Southampton and London City to Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport.

To ensure the protection of passengers and employees alike, VINCI Airports which runs Chambéry  has implemented sanitary measures in all its airports, including cleaning and disinfection of areas and equipment, hydro-alcoholic gel at various distribution points, and signs reminding passengers about social distancing. It’s a small airport, meaning that normally passengers will be swiftly on their way to their final destinations.  Flights are already available and can be booked via ba.com and jet2.com
