The ski season kicks off in Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy on Thursday 22 November. The Cortina ski season will be inaugurated in the Faloria ski sector, thanks to a period of low temperatures and recent snowfalls at altitude.
From 1st December the larger Cortina lift-system will be up and running with the opening of the Tofana ski area and the area of Lagazuoi-Cinque Torri.
The winter season opens with the inauguration of the brand new two-seater chairlift Alpe Potor-Nuvolau, on 1st December 2012. Fitted with a special conveyor as you get on for smooth, fast access, the new facility improves capacity by 70% on the route and is 30% faster than the old lift.
The new lift arrives just in front of the Averau Refuge and the start of the piste that leads to the Giau and the Averau Troi chairlifts. The scenic route through Cinque Torri, Giau and Passo Falzarego is thus made much easier, allowing skiers to enjoy the marvellous views of the Tofana, Civetta and Mount Pelmo.
Cortina is currently offering those wishing to be first on the slopes this winter, and are able to travel fast, a special deal of 2 nights for 2 persons, between 23 and 25 November, from €200. Book now on cortina.dolomiti.org
