Dry Slope Proposed For Inverness

A new dry ski slope has been proposed for Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.

Snowsports enthusiasts from the local Inverness Backcountry Snowsports Club and Cairngorm Ski Club met to discuss a multi-activity centre centred around a dry ski slope in or close to Inverness and they are currently carrying out research in to a possible centre backed by national body Snowsport Scotland.

The idea is to create a dry ski slope for all levels, a café and possibilities for additional activities such as tubing, mountain biking, orienteering as well as general family facilities.

No particular sites have been identified at this stage and the working group has committed to consult interested parties before the proposals are developed further. An online survey has been developed and any interested party is invited to take part. The survey is live during February 2017.

No particular site has been identified although the preference would be a location which offer possibilities for various activities around the core facility of a dry ski slope.

The working group is keen to hear from members of the public who may have suggestions as well as individuals and organisations who may be able to assist in identifying a site.  It has set up a dedicated email address so that members of the public can provide their views and obtain further information: [email protected]

Inverness is located close to Scotland’s five traditional outdoor ski centres.
