This season in Verbier, try something new and ski tour under moonlit sky. Verbier is well known for its ski touring with seven marked ski touring routes departing from either La Tzoumaz, Le Châble, Bruson or Verbier.
For the real enthusiasts, ski touring under the stars is on offer every Wednesday from January to March 2023. There are two possible itineraries, starting from Verbier at 650 m or 590 m altitude, or from La Tzoumaz at 710 m altitude, with a combined finish at Savoleyres at 2,340 m.

Stay at new Chalet Hotel Turquoise to make the most of the many other activities in La Plagne, including 425 km of skiing, UNION restaurant, the Olympic bobsleigh, Moonbiking, and winter walking. Chalet Hotel Turquoise, on the Belle Plagne slopes, has been fully renovated and now offers nine bespoke apartment suites each sleeping between two and 10 people. The new rooms combine comfort and modernity in a chic-mountain style. The building has been fully redesigned, from the insulation and cladding to the heating system and the roof. The works have been undertaken with a focus on sustainability, so all materials have been sourced locally and the works were carried out by local companies.
Val d’Isère, linked to Tignes, offers 300 km of pistes – many of which sit above 3,000 m – a top beginner area, first-class restaurants, plus welcoming bars.
The Alpina Lodge offers beautiful, self-catered apartments in the heart of the buzzing town, just 500 metres from the main ski lifts. Each accommodation comes with a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher and cafetière, plus visitors can make use of the television and Wi-Fi throughout.
Linen and towels will be provided, and beds will be made, ready for guests, plus a welcome basket, with a selection of moreish croissants will be delivered to the door on the first morning to get guests into the French skiing spirit.
After exploring the slopes, return to the Alpina Lodge and rustle up some food in the kitchen before settling down on the comfy sofas. Guests can also hire local cooking equipment – such as raclette grills – for a special evening in.

Grand Hotel Sestriere has great facilities and an even better location. The lifts are only a few minutes away and you can get to them easily with the free shuttle. The centre of town is a short walk away and you can look forward to some great mountain views when you get back to the hotel – we recommend enjoying them from the bar. You can pick from over 1,500 wine labels and sit next to the open fire.
There’s three restaurants here so you can change things up and upgrade to à la carte for a couple of nights. Make sure you try the pizza place – they’re all homemade and cooked in a traditional oven. If you’ve got some spare time, head for the spa and check out the sauna, steam room and whirlpool (payable locally).
Standard Rooms with Mountain View are around 18m² and sleep two people with a double or twin beds, balcony, minibar, safe, hairdryer and bathrobes. Rooms for sole occupancy are available for a supplement.
Superior Rooms with Mountain View are around 20m², sleep up to three people (extra bed is a sofa bed) and have a lounge area.
Location is key when you’re planning a ski holiday and that’s exactly where the Edelweiss stands out. It’s on a quiet edge of the town centre close to everything you’d need, and only 300 metres to the Hahnenkamm Gondola and the slopes. In fact, when the weathers on your side you’ll be able to ski the Asten run from the Hanhenkamm right back to the door.

They take great pride in their hotel and will gladly share their local knowledge and tips and do anything they can to make sure you’re having the best time possible. The fantastic reviews you’ll be able to find really speak volumes here, so it’s not surprising the Edelweiss is consistently voted one of the most popular hotels in Kitzbühel.
The hotel has that well-loved, warm and traditional atmosphere that Austrian hotels are renowned for. There’s a lovely bar and restaurant where you’ll enjoy your evening meals six nights a week with great service. On Thursdays the restaurant and bar is closed, giving you a great opportunity to check out the local cuisine and grab a meal in town. In the mornings you’ll find a nice breakfast buffet spread where its encouraged to help yourself to a little extra to pack away for lunchtime.
