A metre of snow has fallen in the past week at Revelstoke Ski Area in British Columbia in Canada raising hopes that forecasts of an epic winter in Western North America may be coming true already.
The resort, which offers the biggest lift served vertical in North America, is not scheduled to open until the US Thanksgiving Holiday long weekend in three weeks but sent some snaps of lucky pre-opening skiers enjoying the deep powder.
Other BC resorts have been posting reports of big snowfall too, if not quite so big and south of the border resorts like Big Sky Resort in Montana (below) have had healthy snowfalls too. They reported another 15cm/6 inches overnight.
Lake Louise looks set to be the first resort in Canada to open this weekend when The Glacier Express Chair will start turning at 9am and three runs will be open; Bald Eagle, Wiwaxy and Easy Street.
South of the border Mammoth Mountain in California will also open joining A Basin, Loveland and Wolf Creek in Colorado and fellow California resort Mt Rose which is due to open today (Wednesday 4th November).
