- Great Location
Chamonix is located within just one hour of Geneva airport, from where there is a regular bus service and there’s also a train station in the town. Chamonix also has superb road access using the European motorway network. Neighbouring Italy and Switzerland are within 30 minutes drive of the resort. Lift passes for the area cover skiing in Verbier (Switzerland) and Courmayeur (Italy).
- Snow Sure
90% of Chamonix’s skiing is located above 2000m, which makes it the perfect destination for early and late season skiing. The highest skiable area of Grands Montets towers to 3300m, offering exceptional conditions from December until May.
- Mixed Terrain
It’s no secret that the Chamonix Valley is considered a Mecca for freeriders and it certainly attracts some of the world’s best skiers, although you’ll rarely meet them piste skiing! However, there is something for everyone and the Balme and Les Houches areas offer wonderful family skiing.
- Beautiful Alpine Town
You don’t have to be a sports fanatic to enjoy Chamonix. Over half the winter visitors don’t even ski, but simply enjoy the atmosphere of this vibrant Alpine town. The pedestrian centre offers a wide selection of shops and boutiques, sunny street cafés, and a vast choice of restaurants, including two with Michelin stars.
- Sightseeing and Activities
Why not take the Montenvers cog railway up to the Mer de Glace, soar to the dizzy heights of 3842m with the Aiguille du Midi cable car or use the free buses and trains within the valley to discover the outlying villages and hamlets after a hard day on the slopes. You can try your hand at dog sledding, skijoring or even paragliding.
