About 100 people from the international snowboarding scene around the globe took part in The World Snowboard Federation (WSF) and TTR Pro Snowboarding General Assemblies held in Barcelona this week.
It was the biggest General Assembly ever with people from 25 nations represented, including first time participants from Iceland, Mongolia and the Czech Republic. There are now 44 member nations in total.
The General Assemblies discussed the upcoming World Championships of Snowboarding 2016 in Yabuli, China and, following a presentation on the European snowboard market, it was agreed that three future key goals of the WSF are currently: Freeriding, Banked Slalom and encouraging more kids to snowboard.
TTR announced their plans about the new structure of World Snowboard Tour 2.0 which has been actively supported by the pro-riders Ståle Sandbech, Torstein Horgmo and Kjersti Buaas who announcing their own plans of establishing a Riders’ Association.
As well, the WSF and TTR GAs also welcomed an FIS delegation to share their vision for the future of snowboarding.
“The annual WSF General Assembly is a unique opportunity for the development of the independent snowboard communities,” said Marco Sampaoli, World Snowboard Federation President, “It offered delegates from all over the globe, representing national snowboard associations, industry, media and event organizers a change to shape the future of our sport and create great networking moments.”
