Val d’Isère Goes Digital

Val d’Isère has taken steps to be more cyber friendly this winter with the launch of a new free mountain Wi-Fi.  For the first time guests will be able to keep in touch with family and friends direct from the slopes, access information and share photographs and videos with none of the extra costs of data roaming.

In addition, Val d’Isère’s brand new digital bus service is set to make travel for skiers and snowboarders in and around the resort much easier this season. Providing reliable bus updates with precise waiting times, the service has been devised to allow guests to spend more time on the slopes and less time hanging around.

Finally, the famous French resort will also be hosting a ground-breaking ‘Hackathon’ competition aiming to create a brand new Ski App for the resort. Welcoming computer experts in 10 teams from the worldwide ‘hacker community, ’ Val d’Isère’s ‘highest Hackathon competition in the world’ will see the teams compete to create a new digital phone app that will, they hope, “reinvent the Val d’Isère ski experience.”

Apps created in the Hackathon will be shared with Val d’Isère guests who will get to trial them free of charge throughout the 2015 ski season, before voting for the best entry. The winning app will be built to launch for the 2016 ski season.
