After a year off, the MS Trust’s Monster Ski challenge is back and will be taking place in Chamonix next March.
Monster Ski is being held from 16-20 March 2014 in Chamonix to raise funds for the MS Trust, a charity that trains specialist nurses and provides information for people living with multiple sclerosis. For each of the three days of the challenge, participants will attempt to ski 30,000 vertical feet – that’s the equivalent of the height of Mount Everest every day!
This will be the MS Trust’s sixth Monster Ski challenge, but the first in Chamonix, and the charity is looking for 25 skiers and snowboarders to take part. If you would like to get involved, and are capable of confidently skiing on at least a red run, you can register now for £150, plus a pledge to raise £1,500 in sponsorship.
Included in the price are flights and transfers, accommodation (bed and breakfast), a three day lift pass and ski guides who will lead small groups during the challenge. The MS Trust will provide lots of support and advice to help you raise your sponsorship, as well as putting you in touch with other Monster Skiers so you can share fundraising ideas.
Olly Keith from Lancashire took part in Monster Ski in 2012. She said, “Fourteen amazing people, and me, took part – aged 25 to 57, three with MS, mostly experienced skiers and five boarders, all with their own motivation – most with a personal connection to MS. I am very proud to have been able to raise money for the MS Trust. As for my team mates – their drive and commitment was inspirational and the whole adventure was truly memorable.”
Previous Monster Ski events have been held in January 2008 in Colorado, January 2009 in Engelberg, April 2010 in Whistler, February 2011 and March 2012 in Tignes, together raising over £385,000 to help fund the MS Trust’s work.
