Ski manufacturer Elan have announced plans to sell a smart ski embedded with sensors which will provide instant feedback to skiers on their performance.
The idea is that the skis will advise skiers in real time how they are skiing, and advise what changes they need to make to their style to ski better.
The skis, unveiled at ISPO 2018 in Munich, will send data on their user’s skiing up in to the cloud and deliver data also by Bluetooth to the user’s phone, and from their in to their ears via headphones worn whilst skiing.
An Elan spokesperson said the skis were still at the prototype stage and that they did not yet have a timetable for full production.
“Through the sensation of skiing movements, the Smart Ski captured immediate data and recorded on a nearby computer screen,” Elan said in a statement.
