Italy received some of the biggest snowfalls of the past week with Macgnaga the only resort in Europe to claim more than 1m (101cm to be precise) of fresh snow over last weekend.
Other areas posting impressive numbers too – 85cm at Cervinia, 60cm in Monterosa for example.
As with the rest of Europe though most of that snow fell at higher elevations, with lower slopes largely succumbing to the spring thaw.
Here’s a video on conditions in the Milky Way from our fiends at Sestriere Online.

The snow also fell in the west, cover continues to be ‘challenging’ in the Dolomites although Cortina says it will keep part of its terrain open for another month and did at least get 10cm of fresh snow at the weekend. It has a 15-150cm base, typical for the Dolomites this season.
More snow is expected in Italy over the coming week but snowfall is likely to be sporadic and, as it has been all season, largely on the west side of the country.
