For six months of the year from May to October Austria has more ski areas open than any other country in Europe and although we’ll be down to three by the end of the month, June should be no exception.
Four centres are open as we start the month (more than in the other three ‘big four’ Alpine ski nations combined) – year round Hintertux (pictured above and below in May) as well as the Kitzsteinhorn above Kaprun, the Kaunertal and Stubai glaciers.
However Kaumnertalm is due to close after the first weekend of the month and unless it extends its summer ski season, the Stubai will closer having been operating through from last October, ion June 18th.
However there’ll always be at least three Austrian glacier areas open as The Molltal glacier re-opens for its 10 month season the weekend the Stubai closes, opening on the 15th.
