It has been a snowy few days on Scotland’s hills and the snow is continuing to fall.
There was even the first snow last night at Lowther Hills (below), the country’s southerly ski centre.
However this followed a warm wet spell on Tuesday, which melted last week’s accumulated snow.
Cairngorm Mountain Ops (picture top) commented on the new snow on Thursday:
“A welcome return to wintry conditions, a level fall of 10cm last night, turning sunny with some snow showers during today. It was a great day to be out and about in the mountains and wider Strath. Looking ahead there are cold temperatures forecast, with lighter snow showers expected into the weekend. Next week looks wintry too, so hopefully it’s looking promising to start building a base over the next week or so.”
There was drifting snow on the access road to The Lecht said,
“We know that you are all excited that there is some snow, Trust us as soon as we have enough and we know that we are going to open we will tell you.”
Conditions are also looking promising at the other Highland centres, including Glenshee above. So, so far, so good.
