Road Jumping Boarder Dies in Collision With Car

A snowboarder who attempted to jump a highway in the US state of Idaho has died after he was hit by a car.

The 32-year-old was snowboarding outside the boundary of Bogus Basin ski area when he attempted to jump the road.

He was hit by a Hummer SUV going north on the road and taken to a nearby medical centre where he died.

Police report that the boarder was not wearing a helmet, although it is unknown if that is relevant to the injuries that caused his death.

Last spring police warned skiers jumping a road near the  Beartooth Basin summer ski area that they risked serious injury or death and would be prosecuted if caught.
