Prices For British Skiers In Norway Drop 35%

Over the past two years, it has become more than a third cheaper for Brits to take a ski holiday in Norway.

The very favourable pound to Norwegian krone rate that’s given the 35% decrease is based on an exchange rate in 2013, when £1 was 8.55 Norwegian krone at its lowest, compared to November 2015 rate, when £1 was 13 Norwegian krone. Norway has previously had a high price reputation in the UK, like Switzerland, and although it is not in the “euro zone”, prices have dropped by even more than the euro. “Norway is hardly known to be ‘on the cheap,’ and while we still have a way to go on the Southern Europeans, it has never been a financially better time to go,” said AnneLine Kaxrud of visitnorway.com. She added, “With the Norwegian krone having plummeted since the oil crisis kicked in, it is now 35% cheaper for British holidaymakers to visit Norway than in 2013.” The Brits are reported to be already taking advantage of the strong pound, with a 23% increase in British bed nights recorded from 2013 to 2015.
