Next Generation Chairlift For La Plagne

La Plagne is set to unveil a next generation chairlift this winter thanks to a partnership with The MND Group, a division of LST, which describes itself as, “a leader in innovative solutions for mobility development in the mountains.”

The company’s new detachable 6-seater chairlift design is the result of  several million Euros spent on the design of a new range of devices which were tested earlier this year and are now protected by new patents, MND report.

How much of the new technology which MND has patented will be visible to skiers and boarders using the new lift is not yet clear.

The company say they have ‘significantly improved’ the detachable grip process that connects the seat (or with gondolas the cabin)  to the cable, improving performance and making it easier to maintain.

Perhaps more visibly, the design of the departure and arrival stations and vehicle ergonomics have also been redesigned in consultation with operators of many stations to meet their requests for change for a reduced impact on the environment, improving safety and passenger comfort.

“We were attracted by the innovative technologies offered by LST,” says Jean-Yves Salle, Director General of SAP, La Plagne’s lift company. “With nearly 400 kilometres of slopes, the technical challenge is to enable many La Plagne skiers to evolve in the best conditions. The new chairlift will enable better management streams of skiers, and more widely meet all our security requirements, comfort and design.”
