An innovative new way of getting to the slopes from the airport is set to launch across the European Alps in 14/15
FluidCar was founded by a group of skiers frustrated by the existing usual options of an expensive taxi or private car hire or a transfer coach which may have to wait for multiple flights to arrive then make many drop off stops en route.
“After a long flight, the last thing you need is a six hour transfer, especially when you know the journey is only 100 miles,” said company founder Michael Rosam, “We were tired after a trans-Atlantic flight and I flippantly said to my wife “why can’t we just hire a car, drive to our hotel and get rid of it!”
Thus the FluidCar concept was born – essentially you hire the perfect vehicle just for the transfer, FluidCar take it away from the resort, and at the end of your holiday they deliver it back to you for the return leg.
“Our goal is to utilise technology and the collaborative consumption business model to revolutionise the transfer market,” says Michael, who’s company will be testing the concept inn the 3 Valleys with selected partners this winter.
The company will use luxury 4×4 cars which would cost over £1000 to hire for a week from traditional sources but which FluidCar have priced to be equal or below the cost of shared transfers, regular hire cars or private taxis at £99.00 per seat. So the cost for a solo driver is less than £100 with or two in the car, £198 and a max of five in the seven seat car for £495 for the return journey.
