The La Plagne ski area, part of the giant Paradiski ski region in France, will open a long planned gondola next winter, linking one of its lowest altitude bases to the higher Alpine slopes next winter.
The brand-new gondola will open in Plagne Montalbert, a traditional village towards the bottom of the la Plagne ski area at 1350m, saving skiers and snowboarders valuable piste time.
The gondola will replace the Montalbert and Fornelet chairlifts – which can take 30 to 45 minutes transport skiers up the mountain – the new gondola will be able to accommodate up to 10 people (per cabin) and shorten the journey time to just six minutes (increasing the capacity from approximately 1,800 people per hour to 2,800).
