“The Slightly gnarly entry into Flypaper this week”
Groups of people will be hiking up Scotland’s mountainsides to ski on midsummer’s day – tomorrow Saturday 21st June – when it is light nearly until midnight at the northerly latitude of the Highlands, with sunrise soon after 3am.
At Glencoe where there are still large patches of snow on the Main Basin, Spring run, Wall, Canyon and Flypaper they plan to make life a little easier and run the Cliffhanger chair for about 15 minutes at 10am to get participants a little higher up the hill.
There will be no charge for this however normal pricing for the access chair will apply (£10 adults, £5 children). If you are late or you’ll have to hike all the way. It takes around 30 minutes from the car park to the base of the Cliffy.
“While there will still be some great skiing it’s quite a hike up from the top of the Cliffy so a decent level of personal fitness will be required and your personal safety will be your own responsibility,” said a statement on behalf of the centre,
“There will be no ski patrol to assist and hazards like the crevasse below will be unmarked. Skiing at this time of year is only really suitable for experienced intermediate or expert skiers.”
