Big May Snowfall for ‘Final’ Weekend of Season in Colorado

Up to 45cm (18 inches) of snowfall has been reported falling in Colorado over the past 48 hours, above 8,000 feet, ahead of the final weekend of the season for two of the three ski areas still open for winter 17-18 in the ski state.

Winter Park, which has extended its season on its Mary Jane slopes by two weekends after some big April snowstorms, has reported the biggest fresh snowfall.

Loveland has reported 15 inches (38cm) of fresh snow.

At Arapahoe Basin (pictured above earlier today), which has so far said it will stay open to June 3rd but often extends its opening further, has reported 15cm (6 inches) so far.

Friday and Saturday are forecast to be sunny days in Colorado with some cloud on Sunday.
