Mammoth, one of the world’s leading destinations for terrain parks, is celebrating two decades of its unbound terrain parks this winter.
Today the Californian resort’s Unbound Terrain Parks extend to a remarkable 13 separate parks, four halfpipes, 100+ jibs, and over 50 jumps on any given day.
Throughout the 2016/2017 Mammoth plans to celebrate the history of Unbound and highlight the achievements to the present.
This history will be delivered through events, parties, on-hill activations, and digital storytelling the resort says.
One new development with Unbound this winter is a plan to build jumps and platforms out of snow throughout the massive bowl below Hemlocks Ridge, a hike accessed powder playground and “rite of passage” for any Mammoth newbie for the last 50 years.
This season, inspired by Travis Rice’s backcountry snowboard events, the newly created jumps and platforms will allow riders the chance to pick a line with more flow and airtime.
“The Unbound Terrain Park crew will work to expertly choose locations for these enhanced natural features, making for a more fun and creative freeride and freeski “side country” experience,” said a resort spokesperson.
