Lindsey Vonn Becomes Most Successful Woman Ski Racer of all Time

American downhill ski racer Lindsey Vonn (USA) has become the most successful female racer of all time, winning her 63rd world class race.

Vonn’s victory in Cortina yesterday takes her past the long standing record of Austria’s Annemarie Moser-Proll, set 35 years ago, and comes after the racer fought her way back to fitness after a year’s break due to injury.  The American had won her first World cup victory in Cortina too.

Vonn’s win in the Super G comes just weeks before the Alpine World championships are staged in her home resort of Vail Beaver Creek in Colorado, now likely to resemble something of a victory parade for the 30 year old racing star.

Unknown to her, Vonn’s boyfriend Tiger Woods was in the crowd to see her win and surprised her at the end when he came over to congratulate her.
